Prayer Objectives: We have been learning the steps and du'as recited during prayer, and will now begin to pray together in congregation with a (girl) muezzin and (boy) imam each day for dhuhr prayer. Please send in a kufi/topi or hijab for your child to keep in school for the rest of the year and use during our prayer time. JZK!

Math: I have sent home a January IXL Log for students to record time spent practicing math skills on IXL. The expectation is for them to practice at least 10 minutes per day, 5 days per week. This will be part of their Math grade, so please be sure to complete and return at the beginning of next month. Students do not need to log time for the first week of January since they were on break. JazakAllah!
Please complete the following IXL Math Skills this week (by Monday, February 3rd). These skills will supplement our current math unit on measurement. I have starred these skills in IXL, so they should also show up on your child's IXL account under "skills suggested by your teacher". If students finish these assigned skills quickly, they should spend the remainder of their IXL practice time working on "Recommendations".

The expectation is for them to read at least 10 minutes per day, 5 days per week. This will be part of their Readers' Workshop grade, so please be sure to complete and return at the end of the month. Students do not need to log reading time for the first week of January since they were on break. JazakAllah!
Readworks Articles (I highly encourage all students to read these articles as they direct relate to our classroom learning and will enhance your child's educational experience..please complete by Monday, February 3rd):

(Each student has an account on the Readworks.org website, which has many articles that are age-appropriate and relevant to our classroom learning. I will assign four Readworks articles each week. Each article comes with comprehension questions which are very helpful for building overall reading skills. The articles are optional; however, it is important that students are reading for at least 10 minutes a night to ensure growth, insha'Allah. To log in, please click here and type in our class code: GCM5QY. All passwords are 1234 and you may change them once you log in.)
Writers' Workshop: We will have a spelling packet each week, and a spelling test each Friday. So far we have been completing the packets in class. This week we will be working on a vocabulary packet on prefixes. This is our spelling list for the week, in case students want to practice a little extra at home (this is not required, only as needed):
